Waving in the Breeze

As the weather gets hotter, these wonderful plants start flowering everywhere in Greece. They thrive in the hot dry summers, and there are swathes of them everywhere along the sides of the roads and up in the hills. They sway majestically in the wind and are often adorned with an insect of some sort sitting right in the middle of the huge flower!  I know them as Queen Anne’s Lace but I believe they’re also known as ‘Wild Carrot’.

Sandstone Inspiration Triptych 2

AB-10_SandstoneInspirationTriptych2

These 3 mixed media canvases are part of my ‘Sandstone Inspiration’ series. They are 3 individual 20 x 20cm canvasses which can be hung separately, or incorporated together within one frame as a triptych . The paintings were inspired by my photos of the amazing sandstone rock formations that can be found along the Australian coastline. These ones were at Curl Curl, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Details of each separate painting can be found in Gallery – Abstracts.

Underfoot #4

Underfoot4

This mixed media painting, one of a pair, was inspired by photographs I took of some wonderful rock formation whilst I was staying in Tinopai, New Zealand a few years ago.  The rocks were just near the water’s edge, and although I have accentuated the colours, it was the blues and oranges that caught my eye!

I call this series ‘Underfoot’ as over the years I seem to have developed a habit of taking photos of what I’m standing or walking on, if there’s something that catches my eye, hence ‘underfoot’!

A Tuscan Hillside

IT-19_ATuscanHillside

Details of this painting can be found in Gallery – Italy.

A day’s drive amongst the rolling hills of Tuscany and Umbria is a totally inspirational thing for me. I love the rows of trees standing to attention, and the folds of the hillsides. Every season seems to have its own beauty;  from the wavering golden wheat in summer, to the bare soil in winter.
