Skopelos Highlights

I painted this little painting in Skiathos, after spending time on Skopelos. So many little while buildings, and so many laneways to explore.  This view of Skopelos is looking across from the ferry terminal!

Details of this painting can be found in Gallery – Greece.

Snapshot of Koroni

June 2018

This painting is portraying, in simple form, the small Greek town in the Peloponnese, where I currently spend a good deal of each year.  Koroni, like a lot of small coastal towns in Greece, has a lovely buzzing harbour, with whitewashed buildings spilling down from the surrounding hills.

The painting is in acrylic, and in a new technique for me, as I explore different ways of capturing more abstract landscapes.

Details of this painting can be found in Gallery – Greece.

Art Weekly 179 – Sicilian Siesta

14th September 2017

I love wandering along the streets of Italy during siesta time when things are generally quiet and you can appreciate the architecture, although admittedly without the bustle of ‘life’ and with shutters down!  This painting is loosely based on a stay in Taormina in Sicily. I have taken a few liberties with the colours of the buildings, and I suspect the street wasn’t quite as deserted as this!

Highlights on Skiathos

This little painting was done whilst staying in in Skiathos in July. Its such a beautiful island, and there’s nothing more spectacular than arriving in the port and seeing the lovely town slowly crawling up the hill, the borzti and the nearby bays with their white buildings and church towers.

Art Weekly 177 – Light on Skiathos

2nd August 2017

Summer is here in the Northern Hemisphere, and I recently spent a wonderful few days on the lovely island of Skiathos, painting up a storm with my good friend Yvonne, of Painting Skiathos (www.paintingskiathos.wordpress.com.) This little painting was one of the results.

We’re back in Koroni now, and although its not very touristy here, we still get our share of summer visitors, so its plenty of beach and relaxation time for us throughout August. Now that I’ve managed to re-organise ‘my studio’ into the corner of our dining room, there should hopefully be some new paintings coming along, and maybe even a long overdue Newsletter.

Art Weekly No 172 – Blue Chairs, Koroni

Blue Chair21st September 2016

As I mentioned in my recent Newsletter, I will be including some paintings from my #100 Painting Challenge in my Art Weekly mailouts. These paintings are a little smaller than A5, and done in various mediums – if you follow my Jackie Sherwood Artist page in Facebook, or Instagram, you may have seen them when they were originally posted.

I love these blue wooden chairs which seem to be scattered all over Greece! I took this photo when we first arrived in Koroni, and have often sketched and painted them. Unfortunately (for me) now, the building behind has been repaired and painted, very smartly, in a bright mustard colour. It just somehow just doesn’t have the appeal any more!

If you would like to buy this painting, please click on this link to my Art Weekly Online Shop, or if you’d rather deal with me direct, please email me at jackie@jackiesherwood.com.

Nearly Open, Honfleur

PN-07_NearlyOpen-Honfleur

Honfleur has long been one of my favourite towns in France and its well known throughout the world for its beautiful harbour, which I’ve painted a few times. On our last visit I also tried to photograph the colours of the cafes and restaurants lining the harbour which are still very much a huge part of Honfleur.

Impressions – Tuscany

ab-14-impressions-tuscanyThis painting is the second in my ‘Impressions’ series, and a loose interpretation of the beautiful Tuscan countryside, with the town of San Gimignano in the distance.

Details of this painting can be found in both Gallery – Abstracts and Gallery – Italy.
